Overlooking a private courtyard in Borgo Vercallo, the “L’Ulivo” apartment is located on the ground floor of a charming stone house.
Completely restored and furnished in country chic style, this apartment offers an atmosphere of peace and quiet. As you enter, you leave behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life and are enveloped in a feeling of well-being.
The “L’Ulivo” flat has a large living room with an open kitchenette, a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom – equipped with a bathtub – and a bedroom with a bunk bed and bathroom with shower.
Outside the apartmant, adjacent to the private loggia made of stone, terracotta and wood, a hundred-year-old olive tree dominates the courtyard.
About 3 km from Vercallo is the Cortogno E-bike centre.
Here guests can rent pedal-assisted bicycles suitable for everyone and set off to discover the Reggio Emilia Apennines through simple routes of varying lengths through the Tassobbio Valley, woods and castles.
E-bike Cortogno is located right in front of the village’s Bar and Historical Shop, where guests can order a take-away menu to enjoy in the midst of nature, or book a table after the tour with a 10% discount on lunch.
Lived between the 11th and 12th centuries, a period characterised by continuous battles, intrigues and excommunications, the Grancontessa Matilde di Canossa is one of the most important and interesting figures of the Italian Middle Ages: she was able to demonstrate extraordinary strength, enduring even great pain and humiliation, showing an innate aptitude for leadership.
The Borgo Vercallo Relais stands in her lands, still rich in her past and history thanks to the mighty fortified system of castles that defended the vast feudal state she governed.
In fact, a few kilometres from the Relais you can visit some of its most important castles.
